Penance Celebration

This Friday, March 17, our parish will host Bishop Douglas Crosby, the Bishop of Hamilton. The Bishop will be visiting us in order to meet with the representatives of the parish councils from all our mission churches. The hope of this meeting is to listen to our unique needs and find the best way to accommodate

those needs. One of the issues to be addressed is the issue of Mass times at the mission churches. Ever since we went down to two priests, Mass times inevitably had to change. This has caused difficulties for many parishioners and hence many complaints were presented to me within my first few months of arriving at the parish. I have already met with the representatives of our mission churches in the fall and we were able to come up with a number of proposals to solve this problem. The next step is to ask our Bishop for advice or help. Bishop Crosby has kindly accepted our invitation to hear our concerns and offer his suggestions, and for that we are grateful. Please make sure that every one of our churches has a representative at this meeting on Friday, March 17, at 3pm in Owen Sound. I am also very happy that in the evening of that same day, starting at 7pm at St. Mary’s in Owen Sound, Bishop Crosby will preside and preach at our Lenten Reconciliation Service. This will be an opportunity to pray in the spirit of repentance for ourselves, our families, and our parish. The evening will end with an opportunity for individual confessions with the following priests: Fr. Adam Voisin, Fr. Jerzy Tomon, Fr. Emmanuel, Fr. Kuzma, and our own Bishop Crosby. I hope to see many of our parishioners attend.
